Christmas with Thetford Voices (for ages 6-16)

12 months ago

Christmas with Thetford Voices (for ages 6-16)

This is not a church event!

Thetford Voices invites young singers from across the region to join them for a Christmas Carolling holiday workshop on Thursday 22nd December. Singers aged from 6-16 meet at 11.15 in St Peter?s Church, White Hart Street, Thetford to rehearse carols and Christmas songs before an afternoon singing in residential homes across Thetford.  The day ends back in St Peter?s Church, Thetford with guests joining us in a concert at 6.30 for families, friends and members of the public.

There is no charge for the day, made possible through the support of the Pearson Family Fund and Coach Services of Thetford.

Carolling Day, in its ninth year, is always a special day for audiences and performers alike, enthusiastically celebrating the Christmas spirit. Do join us. Information and application forms from thetfordvoices@gmail.com

New Buckenham Art Exhibition 2015

Preparations are well underway for our annual Art Exhibition at New Buckenham. We have had a good response from local artists again and several familiar faces are returning along with some new exhibitors. Artists come from both Suffolk and Norfolk displaying a variety of styles in watercolour oils pastels acrylics inks and pencil. We also display prints and photographs. Together they give an interesting and lively show for the visitors.

This as many of you know it takes place over the Easter Weekend and this year the Opening Night is on Friday 3rd April 7.30p.m. – 10p.m. Admission is £3.00 and this includes your glass of wine and nibbles. Many people enjoy this evening particularly the serious painting buyers. It is a busy evening and many paintings are sold on this evening.

However the exhibition continues over the weekend Saturday 4thh Sunday 5th and Monday 6th April from 11a.m – 4.30p.m. Each day. Admission is £1.00. All the money that is raised at this event is donated to St Martins Church New Buckenham and the Village Hall.

If you have not been to this before do come this year you wont be disappointed and you might even find a picture you want for your home. Bring you family and friends and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with homemade cakes.

Book Launch: Book of Souls-Justice by Jaycee Moule

3 years ago

Book Launch: Book of Souls-Justice by Jaycee Moule
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened - Rev 20:12
Sixteen year old Maya has been troubled by strange dreams and an awareness of supernatural beings since her brother, Jack, was snatched when he was five, and she was seven. Now in her teens, Maya’s encounters with demons once again increase, but help appears in the form of a teenage boy called Leo. However, is Leo everything Maya wishes him to be or is he hiding something more sinister? With unusual things happening in her Norfolk village and amongst her friends, Maya learns to hope that her brother is still alive. Can she find Jack and can she deal with her apparently hopeless love for Leo, while stuck in the middle of an unimaginable war between God's heavenly warriors and the army of His fallen Enemy.
Justice is a young adult fiction and the first book of three, based in the growing village of Wicklesham, Norfolk and set in modern time. Although Wicklesham is a fictional place, it is written around my home village of East Harling and the surrounding area. The reason I asked for the book launch to be in the St Peter and St Paul church, was due to the opening chapters dramatically beginning there, and also the climactic battle which is fought in the cemetery, ending with a devastating scene in the church itself.

The Bishop of Thetford’s Work Party

4 years ago

Could you come and join Bishop Alan in a day working with the Companions to help tidy up the grounds as well as doing some indoor work?  No special expertise required, but a willingness to lend a helping hand as the community gets established at Ditchingham.

You’ll need to bring a packed lunch, but drinks and cake will be provided.

You’ll need to accept that you’ll probably get dirty working, and wear some appropriate clothes and footwear (with closed toes – no sandals).

If you have some gardening tools to bring along that could be helpful.

A petrol strimmer or two would help with the outdoors work.

 It would be great to have some idea of who’s coming, so send an email to graham.cossey@norwich.anglican.org, or leave a message on 01508 491014.

But do just turn up on the day if it’s a last minute decision.

 “Emmaus Communities offer homeless people a home, work and the chance to rebuild their lives in a supportive environment.”

The full address is:

Emmaus Ditchingham

Belsey Bridge Road, Ditchingham NR35 2DT

The Seriously Funny Tour - Sold out

5 years ago

Adrian Plass & Jeff Lucas are both very well known Christian speakers and authors. They are coming to Norwich Central Baptist Church on Thursday May 16th and tickets cost £13 (includes a £1 booking fee per ticket). It is entitled "The seriously funny tour" and the write-up says:

Every evening is different, and unscripted. Breathtakingly honest about themselves, their most embarrassing confessions are some of the funniest  moments. They share a spontaneous conversation that includes story-telling, poetry and banter, creating a warm, intimate evening that swings from laugh-out-loud moments as well as times of tearful reflection. In the second half of the evening, the audience sets the agenda, texting or writing in ...

The website is: Seriously Funny

If you'd like to be part of a group, sharing lifts and seated together, please let me know.

  • a red ribbon around it represents the blood of Christ;
  • dolly mixtures, dried fruits or sweets skewered on cocktail sticks pushed into the orange, represent the fruits of the earth and the four seasons;
